Discografia de Katatonia

Banda de Estocolmo, Suécia (Katatonia do grego: "Kata" = em baixo e "tonos" = tensão - desordem mental caracterizada por catalepsia, estupor, melancolia e depressão física) surgiu como uma das mais fascinantes da cena extrema. Sua música não podia ser atribuída a nenhum estilo, estando em algum lugar entre o doom, death e até o black. A atmosfera de melancolia, desespero, as vezes perto do suicídio, florindo melodias cativantes, abundancia de passagens acusticas e melodias características faziam com que sua música fosse similar ao doom. Mas ao mesmo tempo, ainda sobrava espaço suficiente para agressividade, guitarras ultra rápidas, peculiares do black. Embora os músicos negassem qualquer vínculo ao estilo mencionado, onde ausência de melodia e letras anti-cristãs são inerentes. Músicos que nunca estiveram presos em intermináveis laços, sempre crescendo e desenvolvendo suas habilidades. E ao mesmo tempo, suas composições se desenvolviam com eles.
